Novato Woman Arrested For Assaulting Man, Striking Car With Large Knife

NOVATO (CBS SF) -- Novato police arrested a woman late Wednesday night on suspicion of assaulting a man and striking his car with a large kitchen knife.

Police responded around 11:30 p.m. to a report of a woman vandalizing a vehicle with a knife in front of several residences on Shady Lane.

Officers confronted Marissa M. Arias Cordova, 30, of Novato, as she was striking the vehicle with the kitchen knife, Sgt. Jennifer Dunlap said.

Cordova dropped the knife and was detained, Dunlap said. The victim said Cordova punched him in the face and tried to slash him with the knife, Dunlap said.

The victim suffered minor injuries and the vehicle sustained body and paint damage, Dunlap said.

Cordova was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, vandalism and battery. She is being held in the Marin County jail under $50,000 bail.
