Northern California Ski Resorts Set To Open For Winter Season

LAKE TAHOE (CBS SF) -- A number of Northern California ski resorts are aiming to open up later this month or in early December.

Mammoth Mountain southeast of Yosemite National Park announced Tuesday that is planning to open a day early on Friday, November 13, thanks to continuing cold temperatures and more snow in the forecast.

In the Tahoe area, Heavenly and Northstar are close behind with a projected opening day of November 20.

Here are the projected opening dates for local ski resorts, weather permitting. Be sure to check each resort's website for more information about opening dates and reservations.

Boreal – November 23

Squaw Valley / Alpine Meadows – November 25

Sierra at Tahoe – November 26

Sugar Bowl – November 27

Soda Springs – November 27

Kirkwood – December 4

Diamond Peak – December 10

Homewood – December 11

Mount Rose and Donner Ski Ranch have not yet released opening dates.
