Norris Hits Late Homer, A's Defeat Giants Split Squad

PHOENIX (CBS / AP) -- Derek Norris hit a tying, two-run, homer in the eighth inning and the Oakland Athletics scored on a wild pitch in the ninth to beat the split-squad San Francisco Giants 7-6 on Friday.

Brandon Crawford and Hector Sanchez each drove in two runs and top pitching prospect Edwin Escobar threw two perfect innings with a strikeout for the Giants.

Jarrod Parker, in line to be the A's starter on opening day starter, lasted only 1 1-3 innings. He allowed six runs on five hits, a walk and a hit batter.

Brandon Belt and Gary Brown each added two hits and drove in a run for the Giants.

Stephen Vogt and Jed Lowrie drove in runs for the A's.
