No Charges Filed Against De La Salle Football Player In Alleged Sex Assault

CONCORD (KPIX 5) -- Prosecutors have decided not to file charges against a teenage De La Salle High School football player who was accused of sexual assault.

The Contra Costa County District Attorney's office said there is not enough evidence to file charges at this point, but charges may be filed at a later date.

The alleged victim, a 15-year-old Carondelet High School student says she was assaulted on the De La Salle campus on Nobember 18th during a varsity football game, but didn't report the assault until three days later, at the urging of her friends.

"It's not ok for this to happen to anyone and it's not ok for people, like society, to feel like the person that's been hurt, that they've done something wrong to feel ashamed about the situation," the girl told KPIX 5.

She says Concord detectives collected surveillance video from the school's campus that showed parts of the alleged attack.
