Nike Unveils Tribute Shoe For 49er Great Jerry Rice

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - A decade after leaving the NFL, San Francisco 49er Hall Of Famer Jerry Rice is being honored with a tribute shoe from Nike.

The Niners tweeted a pic of Rice with his new workout kicks Wednesday.

The Nike Free Trainer 5.0, released Wednesday, will sell for $110. The red and gold shoes feature a list of his achievements on the insoles.

The company selected the all-time touchdown leader not just for his on the field heroics, but his preparation.

"Over 20 seasons in the NFL, no player embodied the evolution of training quite like Jerry Rice. From his famous workouts in the hills of San Francisco to his punishing gym regimen, Rice pushed his own boundaries so he could push the game's boundaries every Sunday," the company said.

Number 80 has long listed Nike among one of his "sponsors." There is even a Jerry Rice Building at the company headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon.
