Newark Police Find Woman's Body During Welfare Check

NEWARK (CBS SF) – Police are investigating a suspicious death after finding a woman's body inside a Newark home during a welfare check Monday night.

Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 5600 block of McLaughlin Avenue at 8:21 p.m. for a welfare check, and found an unresponsive woman inside.

Paramedics from the Alameda County Fire Department responded to the scene but they were unable to revive the victim, according to police. Her identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The death has been deemed suspicious, and investigators are asking anyone with information about the incident to call (510) 578-4237.
