Nevada Resident Arrested For Allegedly Robbing Concord Pharmacy Where Pharmacist Bit Him

CONCORD (CBS SF) -- Police arrested a Nevada resident on suspicion of robbing at least two pharmacies this week, including one in Concord, Concord police said.

Officers were able to identify the 48-year-old man after he attempted to rob the Oak Grove Pharmacy, located at 785 Oak Grove Road, shortly before 1 p.m. Monday.

The man allegedly robbed a pharmacy in a neighboring county today and officers caught up to him as he tried to drive away in his car, police said.

The man, who police are not yet identifying, had injuries consistent with those suffered during a scuffle with an employee at the Oak Grove Pharmacy on Monday, where a pharmacist bit the suspect's finger repeatedly.

Police said the man entered the Oak Grove Pharmacy, showed what turned out to be a replica firearm to an employee and demanded prescription medication.

The employee refused and a fight ensued, during which the employee was able to disarm the suspect. The suspect ran out of the store with some medication but the employee followed him and was able to retrieve the medication with the help of a citizen, police said.

Police said Wednesday that the man is suspected of being involved in several other pharmacy robberies.
