Neighborhood Flag Stolen From Patriotic Morgan Hill Community

MORGAN HILL (CBS SF) -- Residents of a Morgan Hill community that oozes patriotism were fuming after their neighborhood flag was stolen overnight.

Jackson Meadows resident Frank Dardanelli put the flag up himself long ago, and would replace it every few years.  He says his time in the Navy during World War II gave him great appreciation for the flag, and what it symbolized.

"It meant something to me, and I felt in our neighborhood that we needed a flag," Dardanelli said.

But the flag vanished overnight earlier this week, and neighbors suspect theft.

A police report was filed, and posted to the Morgan Hill Neighborhood Watch Facebook page to spread the word.

"I think it's an insult to our veterans," resident Stephen Dunne said.

A replacement flag is on the way, and Dardanelli says the neighborhood's American spirit will be safe.

"Every time they remove it, we're going to replace it."
