Narsai David: McFadden Farm Wines Use Organic Grapes In Some Low-Cost Bottles

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)— Potter Valley, California's McFadden Farm Wines has three beautiful selections from their Mendocino County vineyard. The 2013 McFadden Chardonnay uses organically grown grapes from their own vineyard and can be described as having an elegant, appealing aroma. It has a fine balance on the balance with a crisp acidity. This is a classic chardonnay to serve with dinner. You could serve it with roast chicken or sautéed fish. For $16 a bottle it's quite a deal considering the organic grapes.

The 2013 McFadden Gewurztraminer expresses a spicy, almost sexy aroma of fresh spring peaches and the blossoms from their trees. It's absolutely delicious on the palate with fine, crisp acidity and flavors that linger long. It's a perfect wine to serve with a spicy dish or rich pasta. Again it's $16 and made with organic grapes.

Finally, the 2013 McFadden Riesling is very much in an Alsatian style with lots of bright, lush ripe peaches and apricots on the aroma. With just three percent sugar, the wine is perfectly balanced with enough acid. It's a real mouthful of wine. Serve it with spicy Asian food or with a fresh fruit dessert. Once more you get the organic grapes that are simply delicious for $18 a bottle.
