Mylar Balloon Causes Power Line To Go Down In San Francisco's Portola Neighborhood

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A mylar balloon that got caught on a power line and caused a wire to go down resulted in a power outage in San Francisco's Portola neighborhood Wednesday, a utility spokeswoman said.

The outage was reported around 4:40 p.m. in an area including Princeton Street, Felton Street, Madison Street, Cambridge Street and Gambier Street, PG&E spokeswoman Jana Morris said.

The outage initially impacted 516 customers, Morris said.

As of about 7:45 p.m., power was restored to all but 230 customers

who are estimated to have service restored around 2:30 a.m. Thursday, she said.
