Mountain View Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Child Porn, Using Hidden Cameras

MOUNTAIN VIEW (CBS SF) -- A Mountain View man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of manufacturing and possessing child pornography, extortion and using a hidden camera for sexual gratification, Mountain View police said.

On Aug. 14, one of the suspect's victims reported some threatening messages she had received, including photos of her that had been taken by a hidden camera in her bathroom.

On Tuesday, police detectives found the camera, which was hidden under the victim's bathroom sink. The cable of the camera led to an adjacent bedroom, in a unit that was rented by 36-year-old Jose Chavez Ballesteros.

Detectives examined Chavez's devices and found footage of a toddler using the bathroom.

Anyone with information to contribute to this investigation can contact Detective Marco Garcia or Detective Britton Moore at (650) 903-6344.
