Mountain Lion Spotted Roaming Near Stanford University
PALO ALTO (CBS SF) -- A mountain lion was seen wandering around near Stanford University Thursday night, the latest sighting in a densely populated Bay Area location.
The big cat was spotted around 8 p.m. on the south side of the university near Gerona Road and Junipero Sierra Blvd.
Campus safety officials searched the area but the mountain lion hasn't been seen since.
This comes after another cougar was spotted in San Francisco four times in the last week -- the first time one has shown up in San Francisco in recent years.
Then last week, a Daly City police officer spotted an adult mountain lion last week just up the hill from Serramonte Mall.
Fish and Wildlife officials came out later to try and find it but by then it had disappeared.
Mountain lions are often seen in undeveloped areas of Marin and San Mateo counties, but attacks are rare.
If you come face to face with one, don't run. Instead, make noise and wave your arms to make yourself seem bigger.
