Mountain Lion Spotted In Redwood City

REDWOOD CITY (CBS SF) -- A mountain lion was spotted in Redwood City on Sunday evening, San Mateo County emergency officials said.

The cat was spotted on an unmarked trail of Edgewood Park located at 10 Old Stage Coach Road near Canada College around 6 p.m.

Once spotted, the mountain lion left the park's rural area.

People are advised to avoid jogging or hiking during dawn, dusk or evening hours when mountain lions are most active, county emergency officials said.

Anyone who encounters a mountain lion they are advised to not run, but to try to appear larger than the animal, make noise and throw rocks or other objects.
