Mountain Lion Seen On La Honda Road In San Mateo County

LA HONDA (CBS SF) -- San Mateo County officials report a mountain lion sighting took place Sunday morning in La Honda near the southern end of the La Honda Creek Open Space Preserve.

Specifically, the animal was spotted around 8 a.m. in the 6000 block of La Honda Road, according to the county sheriff's office.

Authorities are reminding people not to approach mountain lions -- particularly ones that are feeding or with offspring.

Instead, it is recommended that people stand and face the animal, make noise, wave their arms, and throw rocks to get the animal to walk away.
