Motorcyclists Killed In Crash While Trying To Escape Gunfire In San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS/AP) -- Police say two motorcyclists died after they crashed while trying to escape gunfire in a San Francisco neighborhood.

Officer Gordon Shyy said the victims had been riding on motorcycles when they encountered gunfire in the Bayview District around 5 p.m. Sunday.

He said they crashed while trying to flee the area and suffered serious injuries.

Both were taken to a hospital, where they died.

Shyy said at least one of the victims had been shot.

Shy said investigators were trying to determine who fired the gunshots, and whether the victims were targeted.

Medical examiners will conduct autopsies to determine whether each victim died as a result of a crash, gunfire, or both.
