Most Bay Area Schools To Be Open Friday, Many Schools In Sonoma County Remain Closed

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - Kids hoping for another school rain-out Friday are out of luck in most Bay Area communities outside Sonoma County. There will be no four-day weekend in Oakland, San Francisco or other major school districts after a storm passed trough early Thursday, forcing the closure of many Bay Area districts.

Many schools are resuming instruction Friday, but cancelling planned practices and extracurricular activities. Check with school officials for updates on those programs.

Here's what we know as of Thursday evening:

Schools that will be open Friday after Thursday's closure: San Francisco Unified Schools, West Contra Costa Unified, Oakland Unified Schools, Berkeley Unified schools, All Marin schools (outside of Novato). Most South Bay and Peninsula schools did not close Thursday and will remain open Friday.

SCHOOLS OUTSIDE SONOMA COUNTY:

Many schools have yet to release information, please check with your child's administration for Friday plans.

Stay tuned to KCBS and KPIX 5 for the latest on storm response.
