Update: Monterey County wildfire south of King City 10 percent contained

KING CITY -- A wildfire that prompted an evacuation order for areas about 15 miles south of King City charred 50 acres and was 10 percent contained, Cal Fire said Friday night.

The Williams fire is near Lockwood San Lucas Road and Highway 101, the fire agency said on social media at 6:38 p.m.

Firefighters were injured and taken to local hospitals for evaluation, Cal Fire said on its Facebook page, without giving details.

The Monterey County Sheriff's Department ordered a mandatory evacuation in the area of the 59000 to 63000 block of Lockwood San Lucas Road about 5 p.m.

Evacuations will remain in place through the night, Cal Fire said.

The fire started about 3:47 p.m., Cal Fire said. The cause was under investigation.
