UPDATE: Suspect Arrested After Monte Rio Fatal Shooting, Sonoma County Manhunt

RIO NIDO, Sonoma County (CBS SF) -- Deputies arrested a suspect Tuesday afternoon following a fatal shooting and manhunt in the Sonoma County community of Monte Rio, the sheriff's office said.

The shooting happened just before 11 a.m. in the area of Alder Road and Willow Road just south of the Russian River. Residents in the area were asked to shelter in place as deputies searched the area east of Bohemian Highway and south and east of the river.

The sheriff's office identified the suspect as Francisco Gonzalez, saying he was "armed and dangerous" and carrying a rifle. Gonzalez and the victim are related, a Sonoma County Sheriff's spokesman told KPIX 5.

"We do know they're family members," said Sgt. Juan Valencia. "It was an isolated incident, some sort of family disturbance, some sort of family dispute."

The sheriff's office said at 4:11 p.m., Gonzalez was taken into custody without incident on Green Valley Road near Green Valley School Road, about 20 miles east of Monte Rio and two miles west of Graton and Highway 116. In a tweet, the sheriff's office credited alert community members who reported seeing him after his image and description were released.
