'Middle-School-Age' Armed Robbers In Berkeley Take Victim's Cellphone

BERKELEY (CBS SF) -- Two male suspects described as being "middle school" age took a victim's cellphone at gunpoint earlier this month near the University of California at Berkeley, police announced Sunday.

On Dec. 18, around 8:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of an armed robbery on the sidewalk near Dwight Way and Bowditch Street, according to police.

Officers learned that two males approached the victim. One of the males had a handgun, police said.

The suspects then took the victim's cellphone and ran north on Bowditch Street. The victim was not injured during the incident, according to police.

Both city and campus police searched for the suspects but could not located them.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Berkeley police at (510) 981-5900.
