Meth Lab Found In Prunedale Home After Disturbance Between Neighbors

PRUNEDALE (CBS SF) -- A neighbor disturbance led deputies to the discovery of a methamphetamine production lab at a home in Prunedale on Saturday, Monterey County sheriff's officials said Sunday.

Deputies arrested Matthew Atchison, 31, of Prunedale on suspicion of drug-related charges.

Deputies responded to his home at 49 Frisch Road at 4:13 p.m. on a report of a neighbor disturbance, deputies said.

Atchison appeared to be on drugs when deputies arrived. Deputies discovered he had previously waived his search and seizure rights, according to the sheriff's office.

Deputies searched his home and found materials they said are related to the production of methamphetamine, including chemicals, glassware and a how-to manual.

Due to the volatile nature of the chemicals, deputies called in members of the Monterey County sheriff's bomb squad, narcotics detectives, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agents, the Monterey County Health Department and local hazardous materials crews.

One deputy was transported to the hospital due to exposure to chemicals but deputies said he has since been released.

Atchison was booked in county jail, according to sheriff's officials.
