Men Wearing Bandanas Rob Gas Station Near Petaluma Hours After Santa Rosa Robbery

PETALUMA (CBS SF) -- Two men wearing bandanas over their faces robbed a gas station near Petaluma about two hours after a similar robbery of an east Santa Rosa gas station early Monday morning.

The Valero gas station at 4501 Sonoma Highway in Santa Rosa was robbed at 3:12 a.m., and the Gas Club station at 4550 Redwood Highway south of Petaluma was robbed around 5 a.m.

In both robberies, one of the two masked suspects had a handgun.

The suspects ordered the Gas Club clerk to open the cash register and then took cash, escaping on foot with about $300, Sonoma County sheriff's Lt. Greg Miller said.

The suspects were described as Hispanic men. One was 5 feet 7 inches tall, 22 to 25 years old with a medium build and wore dark clothing with a black bandana over his face.

The other suspect was 5 feet 9 inches tall with a medium build and wore a light colored jacket with a pink towel or bandana over his face and shoulders.

The suspects in the Santa Rosa robbery were in their early to mid 20s, Santa Rosa police Sgt. Dave Marconi said. The suspect armed with a silver revolver is about 5 feet 3 inches tall with black shaved hair. He was wearing a white or light-colored jacket, dark pants and a white bandana over his face.

The other suspect is approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall with black spiky hair. He was wearing a black jacket, dark pants and a dark bandana over his face.

They demanded cash from a clerk and ran with the money across the highway toward the Mission Hand Car Wash and Quik Lube at 59 Mission Circle before police arrived, Marconi said.

The gun was not fired in either robbery.

The Santa Rosa robbery was recorded on a surveillance camera, but there was no surveillance camera in the Gas Club station.
