Mayor Of Oakland Selects Anne Kirkpatrick As New Oakland Police Chief

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- The new Oakland Police Chief is Anne Kirkpatrick from the Chicago Police Department, according to sources in the Bay Area, and Chicago's WBBM TV.

According to an internal memo obtained by KPIX 5, Mayor Libby Schaaf plans to make the announcement Wednesday morning, following a series of meetings with Oakland city councilmembers.

Kirkpatrick is the former Chief of Police for the City of Spokane, Washington and was also selected to lead organizational development for the Chicago Police Department.

In 2016, the Oakland Police Department was rocked by a sex scandal that led to multiple police chiefs leaving their posts.
