Maurice White, Founder of Earth, Wind, And Fire Dies At 74

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Maurice White, founder of the band Earth Wind & Fire has died. He was 74.

White died at his home in Los Angeles after a long battle with Parkinson's disease.

A talented session drummer, he founded the group in the 60s which would become one of the most influential bands of the era, selling more than 90 million albums worldwide.

White will be remembered as the artist who helped create chart-topping hits like 'That's the Way of the World,' 'September,' 'Shining Star,' and 'After the Love Has Gone.'

He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2010. In 2000, Earth, Wind & Fire was inducted into the Rock & Roll hall of Fame.
