Mattresses, Trash Burn In San Rafael Warehouse Fire

SAN RAFAEL (CBS SF) -- No one was injured when a pile of discarded items ignited and started a fire inside a San Rafael warehouse Saturday evening, according to fire officials.

Around 5:22 p.m., firefighters responded to a report of a fire inside a building at Marin Sanitary, located at 1050 Andersen Drive, San Rafael Fire Department Battalion Chief Matt Windrem said.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a pile of debris burning.

With assistance from the Larkspur Fire Department, firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the large warehouse.

The fire only burned garbage and mattresses that were on the top of the pile, according to fire officials.

The building didn't sustain any damage and the cause of the fire remains under investigation, Windrem said.
