Massage Therapist Behind Bars For Allegedly Assaulting Woman During Massage

SAN MATEO (CBS SF) -- San Mateo police announced Tuesday that they have arrested a massage therapist for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman during a massage earlier this month.

The incident was reported on April 13. The victim told police she went to a salon at 5 North Kingston St., where a man claiming to be a massage therapist agreed to give her a massage in a private room.

During the massage, the man inappropriately touched the victim's chest and kissed her, despite the victim asking him to stop, police said.

The suspect allegedly attempted to remove the victim's underwear but was interrupted by a female staff member. The victim then left the business and reported the incident to police.

Detectives arrested registered sex offender Troy Murphy, 53, of San Jose, in connection with the incident, according to police.

Murphy was arrested on suspicion of sexual battery and attempted oral copulation, police said.

Police said the business where the alleged assault occurred is not licensed to offer massages. Police are asking anyone who has patronized the salon, specifically for a massage, to contact San Mateo police at (650) 522-5157.
