Marin Firefighters Rescue Kite Surfer Under The Golden Gate Bridge

MARIN (CBS SF) — Southern Marin firefighters returning from a training exercise rescued a kite surfer under the Golden Gate Bridge on Sunday.

Southern Marin fire Battalion Chief Kai Pasquale told the Marin Independent-Journal on Monday that the fireboat Liberty was on its way home when it got a report of a surfer in distress.

Pasquale says the surfer was "completely entangled in the lines of his kite midspan at the Golden Gate Bridge."

He says firefighters had to cut away the lines to free him and that the man declined medical help.
