Marin County Boy Rescues Dad Following Snowmobile Crash In Lake Tahoe

TAHOE CITY (CBS SF/AP) – A 9-year-old boy's quick thinking helped save his father, who crashed his snowmobile near Lake Tahoe over the weekend.

According to published reports, J.T. Bierdneau was severely injured on Sunday, after his snowmobile trapped his leg.

But that was when his quick-thinking son Bode sprung into action. Although he was a bit nervous and unsure of himself, the 9-year-old decided the only thing he could do to help his dad was to grab the snowmobile and ride alone for help.

Bode did not know which way to go to get help and there was no cellphone reception in the area, but the fourth grader from Marin County eventually found someone with an emergency radio.

A Search and Rescue team was able to come to the aid of Bode's father, who was hospitalized, though he is fully expected to recover.

Rescuers called the boy's actions heroic.
