Marin Child Sexual Assault Suspect Extradited From Guatemala

SAN RAFAEL (CBS SF) – A San Rafael man who fled Marin County where he faced child sexual assault charges was extradited from Guatemala and booked into Marin County Jail Tuesday, San Rafael police said.

San Rafael police arrested Marco Vicente-Gonzales, 31, at San Francisco International Airport. He is being held under $750,000 bail.

Vicente-Gonzales was arrested in December 2014 on suspicion of sexual assault of a child under age 14. He was released on bail pending his court case and was ordered to surrender his passport, according to police.

Vicente-Gonzales fled the country in 2015, but police learned he was back in Guatemala and asked the FBI and Marin County District Attorney's Office to help extradite him.

Family members of the victim, who was known to Vicente-Gonzales, reported the assaults to Marin County's Children and Family Services, which then notified police.
