Man, Woman Arrested For Possessing Stolen Property In Petaluma

PETALUMA (CBS SF) -- A man and woman were arrested in Petaluma early Friday morning after being found with stolen property, police said.

A resident who lives in the area of Photinia Place heard the dog barking, looked outside and saw someone looking through the resident's car, Sgt. Steven Nelson said.

When the resident turned on an outside light, the suspect fled, Nelson said. The resident called police, and arriving officers waited at Black Oak Drive at the entrance to Photinia Place, a dead-end street, and stopped the suspects as they tried to drive away, Nelson said.

The driver, later identified as 24-year-old Mark Castaneda of Petaluma, was found with heroin and property that had been stolen from three different victims, he said.

Castaneda, who is also on probation, was arrested along with his passenger, 24-year-old Jennifer Doris of Petaluma, and both were booked into Sonoma County Jail.
