Man With Machete Smashes Car In San Jose Neighborhood Before Lighting Things On Fire

SAN JOSE (KCBS)— A man armed with a machete has been arrested in the South Bay after some frightening moments in a San Jose neighborhood Sunday morning. Fortunately no one was hurt in the incident.

Neighbors watched wide eyed as the man, wielding the weapon, walked down Mocho Court near Highway 101. He smashed at least one car with the blade and then went into his own garage and began lighting objects on fire.

The neighborhood was shut down as police and fire crews responded. Officers surrounded the suspect's house before taking him into custody.

The unidentified man's sister told KNTV that he may have wanted police to take his own life and that he needs medical assistance.
