Man Temporarily Loses Hearing, Workers Take Cover As Lightning, Thunder Roll Through Palo Alto Area
PALO ALTO (CBS SF) -- Lightning strikes and thunder forced workers at Stanford University's golf course to take cover, causing one man to temporarily lose hearing due to the noise.
Kirk Trombley was working on golf equipment at Stanford when the lightning and thunder hit.
"It was so loud I've never experienced anything like it. It's kind of indescribable," Trombley said.
When lightning suddenly hit a couple building and a palm tree, one person thought he had gotten hit by the bolt, and temporarily lost his hearing.
Nick Mahowald was swimming at a pool near Stanford when the storm moved through the area.
"I was actually swimming this morning, and I got pulled out of the pool," Mahowald said.

Nobody was seriously hurt during the storm.
"Everybody was pretty surprised, and everybody was glad they were inside," Trombley said.
Lightning hit dozens of times in the East Bay during Thursday's storm as well.
