Man Shot At After Following Robbery Suspect In San Rafael

SAN RAFAEL (CBS SF) -- Two people were robbed and one was shot at after he followed the robbery suspects in his vehicle late Monday night, a San Rafael police lieutenant said.

Police in the area of Woodland Avenue in the Canal neighborhood heard gunshots around 10:15 p.m. and searched for victims, Lt. Dan Fink said.

After the dispatch center received a call from someone who said their friend had been shot at, police contacted two victims.

The couple said after they parked their car around 10:10 p.m., two men, one with a handgun, demanded money and property and left on foot, Fink said.

The male robbery victim decided to follow the suspects in his vehicle and he was shot at but was not injured in the area of East Francisco Boulevard and Harbor Street, Fink said.

Police and the California Highway Patrol searched the area but did not locate the two black male suspects who were wearing dark hooded sweatshirts, Fink said.

Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to call San Rafael police at (415) 485-300 or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
