Man Seriously Hurt After Violent Mugging In San Francisco's Portola District

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A 52-year-old man who was knocked unconscious while being assaulted during a mugging in San Francisco's Portola District on Sunday night is at a hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said Tuesday.

Emergency crews responded to the 2900 block of San Bruno Avenue near Woolsey Street around 8:30 p.m. Sunday after receiving a report of an unconscious man.

The victim was found on the street and was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with head trauma, police said.

A witness told police that another man had tried to take the victim's property before he was knocked unconscious.

No one has been arrested in the case and police have not said whether the suspect made off with the victim's belongings.
