Man Runs Himself Over With His Own Car In San Jose

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- A man at a San Jose auto parts lot was seriously injured after somehow running himself over with his car, according to a fire department official.

The unidentified man was run over Thursday morning outside a Pick & Pull lot on the 1600 block of Monterey Highway near Phelan Ave. in San Jose.

San Jose Fire Department Battalion Chief Reggie Williams said when firefighters arrived the man was still wedged under the car and a number of bystanders were able to lift the car slightly so firefighters could remove the man.

"We're not quite sure yet how he ended up underneath," said Williams. "the vehicle may not have been placed in park and the vehicle rolled forward after he got out of the vehicle."

The man was hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening. The investigation was ongoing.
