Man On Bike Suspected Of Attempted Kidnapping Near Redwood City

REDWOOD CITY (CBS SF) – San Mateo County sheriff's deputies are searching for a bicyclist suspected of attempting to kidnap a 12-year-old girl in the North Fair Oaks neighborhood near Redwood City Thursday afternoon.

Deputies said the girl was walking near Douglas Avenue and Fair Oaks Avenue around noon when a man on a red bicycle approached. The man asked the girl if he was lost and told her "Don't worry, I'll take you," before attempting to grab the girl's arm.

The girl ran to nearby Fair Oaks Elementary School, where she notified a counselor. A search by deputies did not lead to the suspect.

Deputies describe the suspect as a skinny white male adult in his 30s, with blond hair. At the time of the incident, he was not wearing a shirt and was wearing white and red striped shorts. The man did not have any tattoos.
