Man Struck, Killed While Walking Along Hwy 101 In San Jose

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A 42-year-old man was killed early Saturday morning after a car struck him as he was walking along a San Jose highway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 1:35 a.m. on U.S. Highway 101 near Tully Road, CHP spokesman Officer Ross Lee said.

The victim had been walking along one of the highway's northbound lanes when a 2009 Volkswagen struck him, according to Lee.

The driver, a 33-year-old San Jose man, stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, Lee said.

The identity of the victim has not been released.

Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash and crash remains under investigation, according to Lee.
