Man Killed In Early-Morning Solo Crash On I-80 In San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A solo car crash on Interstate Highway 80 killed a man Saturday morning in San Francisco's Yerba Buena neighborhood, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Around 6:09 a.m. a man estimated to be in his early 30s was driving a silver Acura eastbound on I-80 near the Fourth Street off-ramp when he lost control of the vehicle, according to the CHP.

The Acura crashed into a bridge support pillar and started smoldering. A good Samaritan pulled the victim out of the wrecked vehicle but paramedics later pronounced him dead at the scene, according to the CHP.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Further details were not immediately available.
