Man Inappropriately Grabs Woman Walking In Petaluma

PETALUMA (CBS SF) -- Police are investigating a sexual battery reported Saturday morning near downtown Petaluma.

Around 2:10 a.m., the victim was walking home in the area of Fifth Street and D Street when she noticed the suspect approaching her from behind.

The victim screamed, and the suspect fled on foot south on Fifth Street.

Police conducted an extensive search of the area, but did not locate the suspect.

Police said the incident is not believed to be connected to a different sexual assault that occurred in Petaluma on Friday.

Police are asking anyone with information on the incident to contact Officer John Silva at (707) 781-1262.
