Man Hides In Closet, Calls 911 As Burglar Ransacks Scotts Valley Home

SCOTTS VALLEY (CBS SF) -- A burglary suspect was arrested Friday afternoon in Scotts Valley after a resident told 911 dispatchers that he was home alone and heard someone inside.

The burglary was reported at about 3:00 p.m. in the 600 block of Bean Creek Road, according to police.

The resident locked himself in a closet and waited for police, who found a suspect exiting the home's front door, police said.

Jason Gerrard, 45, of Scotts Valley, was arrested on suspicion of burglary.

Police are advising residents to lock their doors and windows, be aware of people or vehicles near their home and report suspicious activity in their neighborhood.
