Man Follows, Assaults Female Student Outside UC Berkeley Dormitory

BERKELEY (CBS SF) -- A female student was assaulted outside of a University of California at Berkeley dormitory.

It happened on Monday, October 26.

A Campus Security Authority reported that around 10:30 p.m., the student exited a bus near Durant Avenue and Dana Street, according to campus police.

An unknown male began following the student. He then began talking to her, at which point the student ignored him, police said.

The suspect grabbed the student's arm and shirt and pushed her against the front door of Beverly Cleary residence hall, according to police.

The suspect said remarks of a sexual nature and tried to intimidate the student into letting him into the building, police said.

A resident of Beverly Cleary opened the door and the suspect ran away, according to police.

Police did not provide a description of the suspect.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact UC Berkeley police at (510) 642-0472.
