Man Shot Dead In Livermore Walmart Parking Lot; Suspect Arrested
LIVERMORE (CBS SF) -- A man was discovered shot to death after a violent confrontation between transients early Wednesday morning in the parking lot of a Livermore Walmart store, authorities said.
Police identified the suspect as Johnathan Michael Inocencio, 30, of Livermore. Inocencio was arrested in Elk Grove early Wednesday afternoon, according to Livermore police.
Officers responded at 4:06 a.m. to a call reporting a shooting in the 2700 block of Las Positas Rd.
They discovered a man with several gunshot wounds to his upper torso. Efforts to assist the man failed and he was declared dead at the scene. His name has not been released.
Two suspect vehicles were also being sought. One is a white 2004 Ford Explorer, license plate 8LMY202. The second vehicle is a white and red 2000 Tioga motor home, license number 7YYY693.
Police spokesman Ofc. Art Rosas described both Inocencio and the victim as transients who were living the area behind the Walmart parking lot.
Rosas said investigators believe the homicide was the result of some kind up dispute between the two men.
"As far as we know it was just a feud of some type, some sort of argument but we don't have any further details," said Rosas.
Rosas also said there would be increased homeless outreach and patrols of the area.
"As a police department, we already have a homeless team that reaches out on a regular basis," said Rosas. "And obviously when it comes to any sort of crime we're going to step up our enforcement efforts."
A person in the same area was reported to have been injured around the same time, but Rosas said it was not clear whether is was connected to the homicide.
