Man Cited For DUI After Head-On Crash On Sonoma County Highway

SEBASTOPOL (CBS SF) -- A 25-year-old man was cited on suspicion of DUI after a head-on collision early Sunday morning on state Highway 116 in unincorporated Sonoma County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred at about 12:30 a.m. on Highway 116 west of Stony Point Road.

Antonio Salcido was cited and released after his 2004 Lincoln Navigator hit a 2008 Toyota Prius driven by a 51- or 52-year-old person, CHP Sgt. Jason Bahlman said.

The driver of the Toyota swerved to miss the oncoming Lincoln but could not swerve enough.

The Lincoln hit the Toyota causing it to spin out of control and off the roadway, Bahlman said.

The Lincoln continued east until it drifted off the road and hit a large tree, Bahlman said.

Salcido suffered minor to moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital. The driver and passenger in the Toyota escaped injury, according to Bahlman.

Both vehicles sustained major damage.
