Man Beaten Near Downtown San Jose By Group Wearing Red Shirts
SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A male pedestrian walking east of downtown San Jose on Tuesday night was beaten by a group of males wearing red shirts in a gang-related attack, according to San Jose police.
Police were dispatched at about 9 p.m. Tuesday after the victim reported that he had been assaulted in the area of Tenth and Saint John streets, according to officers.
He told officers that he was headed for home on foot when a group of Hispanic males wearing red shirts approached him and asked if he "banged," police said.
The victim said that he replied "no" and started to walk again when the group set upon him, pushed him to the ground and kicked and punched him.
He then stood up and went home before calling police. The victim suffered minor cuts and bruises but declined medical attention, police said.
Police are investigating the assault, which is considered gang-related, and the suspects remain at large, officers said.
