Man Arrested For Allegedly Stabbing His Mother To Death In Hayward

HAYWARD (CBS SF) -- A 20-year-old man suspected of stabbing his mother to death in Hayward on Saturday evening was arrested, police said.

Officers responded to a report of a stabbing at a residence in the 27000 block of La Porte Avenue around 6:50 p.m., police said.

Arriving officers went to the home and found a 57-year-old woman lying on the ground suffering from stab wounds, according to police.

She was not responsive and emergency crews pronounced her dead at the scene, police said.

The suspect, Joseph Badiali, had told a neighbor he stabbed his mother before officers arrived and stayed at the scene, according to police.

Badiali was cooperative with officers and was arrested on suspicion of murder, according to jail records.

Detectives are continuing to determine the motive behind the fatal stabbing, police said.

Badiali was booked into Santa Rita Jail without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned in the Hayward Hall of Justice on Tuesday afternoon.
