Man Arrested After Santa Rosa Police Chase In Stolen Car

SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) -- A 22-year-old man was arrested in Santa Rosa early Monday morning after leading police on a chase in a stolen car, police said.

At about 1:25 a.m. Monday, police spotted a stolen vehicle being driven east on West Steele Lane near Dorado Court.

Officers attempted to pull the car over, but the driver—later identified as Dan Cotton—would not stop, and a vehicle pursuit ensued, police said.

Cotton continued driving east on West Steele Lane at speeds above 70 mph, failing to stop at red lights and stop signs, according to police.  The pursuit ended a short time later when Cotton's vehicle broke down.

Cotton was arrested for recklessly evading police, possession of stolen property and possession of a controlled substance, police said. He also had three misdemeanor no-bail warrants that had been issued for his arrest.

He was booked into Sonoma County Jail, police said.
