Major Delays After Person In Medical Crisis Falls Under BART Train
BERKELEY (CBS SF) -- BART passengers were experiencing major delays system-wide Saturday evening after a major medical emergency involving a person under a train in Berkeley earlier today, according to a transit spokesman.
BART spokesman Jim Allison said the incident was reported at 4:40 p.m. at the Ashby BART station.
Ashby station was closed while emergency crews worked to remove the person, identified as an adult man, from the tracks. Allison said the man was removed alive, and taken to a hospital with unknown injuries.
The station was reopened at 5:35 p.m. with trains using a single track, and restored to full service shortly after 6 p.m.
Allison said BART police were investigating the incident and it did not appear to be related to criminal activity.
No further information has been released at this time.
