Magnitude 2.7 Quake Strikes Alameda County
ALAMEDA COUNTY (CBS SF) – An earthquake with a preliminary of magnitude of 2.7 struck late Monday night near the Alameda County community of Ashland, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The USGS said the quake struck at 11:05 p.m. about one mile north of Ashland and two miles east of San Leandro, at a depth of 3.3 miles.
According to visitors to the USGS website, the quake was felt mostly in San Leandro and Oakland. Some reported light shaking as far away as Livermore and San Francisco.
The quake was felt by a few visitors to the KPIX 5 Facebook page Monday night. Shannon Gray of San Leandro reported a "hard shake" while Neil Carbone said there was a bang before the quake struck.
There are no reports of any damage or injuries resulting from the quake.
