Magnitude 2.5 Earthquake Shakes Area Near Blackhawk

BLACKHAWK (CBS SF) -- An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 2.5 struck an area near the unincorporated community of Blackhawk in Contra Costa County Sunday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake was reported at 3:27 p.m. and struck about 6 miles east of Blackhawk and roughly 7 miles south-southwest of Brentwood, according to the USGS.

The temblor had a depth of about 10 miles, the USGS is reporting.
