Caught On Video: Gunman Opens Fire On Police Car In Central Valley

MADERA, Madera County (CBS / AP) -- Central California police are looking for the people who fired more than a dozen rounds at an officer and a civilian who was on a ride-along.

The Fresno Bee reports the incident occurred early Sunday morning as the Madera officer tried to stop the vehicle and a pursuit ensued.

The officer was not injured. The civilian who was doing a ride-along sustained minor cuts from shattered glass when the patrol car's windshield was shot out. Two of the bullets hit the windshield, narrowly missing the officer and the civilian in the front passenger seat, the newspaper reported.

Police found the vehicle few blocks from where the officer last saw it. Police say they also located an AR15-style pistol.

No arrests have been made.

The department says the officer had just finished training and was on his second week working alone.
