Macy Gray Covers Metallica's 'Nothing Else Matters'

By Hayden Wright

(RADIO.COM) – Macy Gray has made an enduring name for herself with her soulful take on pop music, but her upcoming album Stripped features a heavy metal cover: Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters." Gray shared the track on SoundCloud and the jazzy arrangement masks the melody's hard rock origins. She previously recorded the song on her cover album Covered but the Stripped arrangement pares down the production.

On the record, Gray is backed up by instrumentalists Ari Hoenig, Daryl Johns, Russell Malone, and Wallace Roney. Stripped features a combination of new music, covers, and reinventions of Gray classics like her biggest hit "I Try."

Meanwhile, on the Metallica front, the band's long-awaited tenth studio album is due out on November 18.

For now, listen to Macy Gray's cover of "Nothing Else Matters" at Radio.com.
